William and Thomas Lowndes letters, 1795-1846.

Collection consists of correspondence of Lowndes and of his brother, Thomas Lowndes (1776-1843), also a S.C. legislator, 1796-1800, and member of the U.S. Congress, 1801-1805. The letters are chiefly personal and include a description of William Lowndes' death at sea. Among the correspondents are John Connel, and Robert Wilson Gibbes.
